The Hans Hoyer 7801 F/Bb Heritage Series French Horns are “Kruspe” style instruments for players who are looking for the large dark “studio” sound without compromising control. The design was developed in close cooperation with key artists, including Vince De Rosa and Myron Bloom. The design of the ‘Kruspe Style’ French Horn dates back to 1897. But new innovations and improvements have made the instrument better all the time.

The bell receives special attention in the annealing process as the last branch and bell flare are made from one piece of brass rather than the traditional two-piece design. This brings out additional harmonics and resonance that players respond to. The valves have also been specially treated and hand-fitted to have an “aged” feel so players do not have a “break-in period” and can be very comfortable from the very beginning.

This instrument comes with the new trademarked 3B linkage system. 3B stands for “Bronze Ball Bearing”. Two steel balls are held within a bronze ball bearing for each valve. This optimises the transmission: one ball connects the valve action rod to the bottom of the lever, while the other one is connected to the stop arm. Additionally to this perfect gliding mechanism of steel and bronze, a spring on the connector to the valve action rod keeps the linkage in an optimal position to guarantee a perfectly smooth movement.
